“What’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare
Well, actually there’s quite a lot in a name!
On Twitter you will find a range of people, but the majority can be put into two brackets by their name – real person or business. Which would you rather follow?
People like dealing with people. They like to know the face of the person they are chatting to. They like to feel like they are dealing with a human being. Business names and logos put paid to this.
Plus, people don’t want to follow back a business. A business following you suggests they just want to sell to you and fill up your Twitter feed with what they can offer you. Whereas a real person may enter into conversation with you or tweet something more interesting than what they can offer.
If you want to grow your business on Twitter, try using your own name and picture. Your bio will detail where you work and you can tweet links back to your website. I guarantee you, follower numbers will increase!
