I’m a bit of a book worm.  Both escaping to another place with a bit of fiction.  And learning as much as I can about running an effective business with business books.  From a very young age, I’ve always had in the back of my mind that I’d like to write my own book one day.  But I’m sure many people have that flashing thought, and only a very very small minority actually carry it through.

I was reading a book the other day, a business book, that suggested writing a book was a great way of being seen as a person of influence in your industry.  And it struck a chord with me.  I write all the time.  I write courses.  I write for this blog.  I’ve written for magazine and newspaper articles too.  And I really love the idea of writing a book!

I'm Writing A Book

So, i’m going for it!  I’ll no longer be the person who talks about writing a book (or keeps the idea secretly lodged away in my subconscious where no one can find it and hold me to it!).  I’m putting this out there so that it will definitely happen.  Because of course, writing a book is no easy task.  Otherwise we’d all do it!  The time commitment is huge.  And I currently don’t really have much space for that commitment.  With two young girls and a business to run, life if pretty busy!  But it always will be.  There’s never going to be a good time.  I’m not going to find myself twiddling my thumbs and wondering what to do, with a book being the only thing to fill my time.

I’ve set myself the challenge of having the words all there for the book by Christmas.  Christmas this year!  So that really only gives me about two months to get it written.  But I figured, if I do an hour every night, it will get done.  I’m enlisting the help of a book-writing coach to hold me to account and help me along the process.

And the first step is to work out what I want the book to be about!  Obviously, the overall theme will be social media.  But I can’t write a book called ‘Social Media’.  I have a few ideas, but I’m going to keep them under wraps until I’m sure of what the subject will be.

I’ll keep you up to date with progress, difficulties along the way and whether I hit my Christmas deadline or not!  And I really hope that the book I create will be a useful resource for you in helping you see social media success!
