The best content is planned content. Thought-through and specific to the time of the year.
Summer is finally around the corner (doesn’t winter always seem so long compared to summer?!). So, is your content summer ready?
Here are a few things you may need to prepare ahead of the summer:
-
Cover Images
You can change the cover or header images on your social media profiles as often as you want. It’s great to keep these seasonal, especially if you sell something that is more appropriate to certain seasons. I love the way that Starbucks change their cover image to reflect the weather. If it’s the freezing midst of winter, expect steaming mugs of hot chocolate. When the sun is shining bright in summer, it’s all about the iced coffees!
2. Imagery
And your cover images aren’t the only thing you can keep seasonal. Do you have a bank of images you can use to accompany summery posts? As soon as the sun comes out, head out and grab some summery shots, or search on free stock image sites for summer images.
3. Campaigns
You can gear campaigns towards the summer. Make them more outdoors focused and with a sunshine feel to them. Get your audience outdoors, asking them to take selfies in certain places, like the beach or park.
4. Competitions
Give away something summery, like inflatables for the pool, sun hats or things for the garden. You can also ask people to enter by answering something summer focused, such as their favourite sunshine holiday destination or their favourite ice lolly.
5. Instagram Imagery
Your Instagram profile should see a shift towards more bright and summery colours in your images. Make the most of that sunshine whenever it is out!
6. Your Updates
It’s very British to talk about the weather. But we all do it. So, why ignore it on social media?! Share summery vibes with your posts, wishing everyone a happy day in the sun when it is shining bright.
7. Treat Your Staff
Last year, on the hottest day of the year, UKFast held a beach day for the staff. There was sand, a pool, a BBQ, an ice cream van, and it looked like great fun! It also gave them some great content for social media. You can see the video of their beach day below:
Bring on the summer!
