The more people engage with your stories, the more likely they are to see more of your stories!! The response also gives you feedback that they are responsive to what you have to say. AND, it helps you build a relationship with them. Seeing how they respond to the different forms of engagement gives you the opportunity to continue that engagement.

So…how do you get more engagement on your Instagram stories?

.

1. Same Option Poll

We know the typical ‘yes/no’ polls work well. But what works even better is when you share two responses that are essentially the same!! It makes it much easier for your audience to respond. For example “Absolutely/Of course”, “Agree/You’re Right”, “No chance/As if” and “Why Not”/”I’m In”! This also means you have an excuse to send them a message based on them responding. Give it a go and see if you get more poll responses as a result!

.

2. Slider of GIFs

Rather than just using the slider sticker to indicate the emoji on the slider, you could ask a questions and add GIFs along the slider as response options. For example, you could ask ‘how was your weekend’ and choose 4 different GIFs as responses to run along the slider. This could be used as a multi-choice poll. Again, the response can give you a reason to DM the user that engaged!

.

3. Ask For Advice

If there’s one thing most people enjoy, it’s sharing their advice! If you are stuck on something, ask and put on a question box sticker for responses. This helps especially if you what you are asking is relevant to your audience. For example, if your audience is parents, ask them a parent-related question. This will make it easier for them to respond, which should lead to more responses. And you can share the responses, as they’ll be relevant to your audience.

.

4. Run A Quiz With A Prize

The quiz sticker allows you to ask a question with multiple-choice options, with you being able to select one as the correct answer. You could run a multiple question quiz through your stories with a prized incentive. That incentive could be as simple as a shout-out on your stories. Or could be a physical prize that you send to them. This will probably depend how hard the quiz is!!

.

5. Use The Countdown Sticker For Exciting Posts

The countdown sticker is used rarely on stories. And, when it is used, it’s usually to countdown to a launch or something big happening. Why not use it to announce that you’ve got a great post that you’re going to be putting live at X time, that will really help them learn about a certain topic. Then tell them to click on the countdown to be notified when the post has gone live so they don’t miss it. This will not only get more engagement on your story, but it will also get extra eyeballs on your post too!
