Don’t leave your personality at the door when you log on to social media. Personality helps your posts stand out, to humanise your brand and your personality IS part of your brand!

So, where on social media can you let your personality shine?

.

1. Your Profile Pictures

Your personality can start with the imagery on your profile. Want to show case your relaxed and approachable personality but have a profile picture of you in a suit with a straight face?! It doesn’t align! Similarly, your logo might not be the best way to put across your social media in your profile imagery. Think about how your profile imagery reflects the personality of your business.

.

2. Your Profile Bio

The text of your profile can also reflect your personality. Want to come across fun and exuberant? Use emojis and vibrant language. Want to be calm and chilled? Use calming language. Want to be approachable? Tell people how you want them to get in touch. Read through your profile text and see if it adequately showcases your personality.

.

3. Your Videos

The videos you share are a brilliant way to show your audience the personality of your brand. If you appear in them, your natural energy should bring forth your personality. Try to forget the camera is on you and just imagine yourself talking to your audience. If you are creating brand videos that don’t include team members, make sure the music and visuals align with your personality.

.

4. Your Images

The images you use with your content is another place for your personality to shine. Make sure colours reflect your brand personality (e.g. vibrant vs calm). Selfies and team pictures should also portray personality. For example, I always make sure I have a big smile in my pictures to appear approachable and friendly. And if you use stock imagery, be sure that they bring across your brand personality.

.

5. Your Post Captions

And finally, the caption of your post should also be an indicator of the personality of your brand. This is a great place to use emojis that align with your personality. And the language used within your captions should reflect your personality too. Test it by asking those you know to describe your business personality simply from reading your posts. Did they get it right? If not, you need to either rethink your posts or your personality!!
